News from Jamaica
I am glad to be here in America! The reason for me saying so is it’s a good chance for me to meet with you kind-hearted, loving people who for the past 6 years have made such a great difference in lives in Jamaica by helping to send kids to school. Without your help, it would be very hard, especially for some because some can’t make a start to go to school and you find it in your heart to share the blessings God has given to you.
In Jamaica, things are very hard. Some families don’t even have a roof to shelter themselves. Some have just a small little shack for families of 8 or more. Some of those have no means of putting their kids in school. Food to eat, clothes to wear – those are big struggles to them. They have no running water in the home or any conveniences whatsoever. So without your help, their children don’t have any means of getting an education. The parents are very grateful and very much interested in Glory Outreach; they are hopeful that it will continue for many years. Everyone says Glory Outreach is a God blessed program and they are hoping and waiting to hear the call that their child will be one to be sponsored.

It is such a blessing to be part of Glory Outreach! It offers such great opportunities to reach out to people from all walks of life. It not only helps the children and families of Jamaica, the program offers the opportunity of sharing God’s love with people throughout the United States. As I travel to tell people about the program and share my life story, I have been given the chance to meet many types of people of different ages, races, backgrounds, faiths, and experiences. Despite any differences, we are all working together to help and care for God’s people. This year as we work toward our goal of sponsoring 75 children for school, I look forward to joining you all as we fulfill God’s desire to be our brothers’ keeper.
Send a Child to School
Romaine, and many children like him are hoping to be able to return to school this fall.. But school in Jamaica is not a certainty for many children. The required school uniform, shoes and school supplies are beyond the means of their parents who often find it difficult enough to provide food and shelter for their families.
The Glory Outreach Send a Child to School Program is a way to offer hope and the resources needed to provide an education to a Jamaican child who may not otherwise have such an opportunity. Although some families manage to struggle and pay for the required school fees, uniform and shoes, they often do without other necessities, such as food, in order to be able to do so.
The 2009-2010 is nearing and the goal for Glory Outreach is to put 75 children in school this year. Now is your opportunity to make a true difference in the life of a child. Your tax-deductible gift of $250 per school year will cover shoes, a school uniform, and go toward school fees and supplies. We hope you will consider renewing your sponsorship or choosing a child to sponsor this school year. You may designate the child you would like to sponsor or allow the program to choose the child most in need.
Children available for sponsorship are listed on the Glory Outreach web-site at www.gloryoutreach.net. You can sponsor via the web-site or send a check or money order to the Glory Outreach Program, 220 S. Tanyard Rd., Cadiz, KY 42211. Your contribution is tax-deductible. If you would like to contribute monthly or send a one-time donation for any amount, your donation will be used for those children and families most in need.
Christ said to love one another. What better way to share the love and the gifts He has given us that to provide hope for a better future to a less fortunate child? Thank you for letting the light of Christ shine!
“And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me.”
Matthew 18:5

Student Spotlight
Allison has so many goals, sometimes it’s hard for her to decide what she wants to be when she grows up. One day, she wants to be a teacher, one day she wants to be a bank manager, and the another day she wants to be an artist. Allison is such a smart young lady she could be anything she wants, as long as she continues to get to attend school.
Allison is 11 years old in grade 4. She reads at an 8th grade level and loves to attend school. She is first in her class and has already received many academic awards and medals. She takes great pride in her studies and her teachers consider her a very hard-working, dedicated student with a polite attitude who is always willing to help.
Life is hard in Jamaica; Allison lives in a small house in rural Jamaica with no running water, little to eat and no money for school expenses. She is being raised by her grandparents who have no regular income and survive by raising food to eat. Allison is able to attend school with the help of her sponsor family who has sponsored her since she began school at age 6. Allison’s family is very appreciative of Allison’s sponsorship through Glory Outreach. Allison’s success in school and her hopes for her future have been a blessing through the hearts on one American family reaching out through the love of God to touch another.

Shipment
Glory Outreach is planning for our 4th shipment of supplies to Jamaica. We will be collecting shoes, clothes, medical and school supplies to send to rural Jamaica as soon as we secure a storage location for donated items. We are in need of a place to store enough items to fill a semi-tractor trailer. If you have a location or know of a location that would be willing to accommodate items for our next shipment, please contact Glory Outreach Executive Director Elizabeth Englert at 270-498-9890 or at elizabeth@gloryoutreach.net.
The people of Jamaica are anxiously awaiting the next shipment; the supplies they receive are not only helpful, they are a source of hope. Keep our shipment efforts in your prayers and refer to our web-site to find out when the shipment will take place, what items to donate and how you can help.
Church Spotlight
Dyer’s Creek Church is a very special place. In Dover, Tennessee, the Dyer Creek folks have a heart for God that has stretched across an ocean. Pastor Jeff Wallace, wife Jill, and children Gracie and Nathan have been supporters of Glory Outreach since our beginning. They have contributed to the program in untold ways. As a teen, Nate was one of the initial donors that helped toward the expense of getting our 501(c)3. He and Gracie were two of the initial 5 of us who loaded over 500 boxes onto the tractor trailer for our first shipment. Jeff and Jill have packed boxes, run concessions at fund-raisers, volunteered on numerous committees, printed post-cards for Project Christmas, and have been prayer warriors and passionate ambassadors for Glory Outreach.
Not only has this Jamaican mission been a family affair, the Wallaces have led by example and Dyer’s Creek has followed suit by opening up their hearts to Glory Outreach. The church members have sponsored countless children for school, contributed faithfully to our funding, hosted Sean many times for presentations, and last year nearly single-handedly sponsored Project Christmas – the program that feeds families at Christmas. Many church members have come to us with significant contributions, telling of God’s call in their lives to help. The church has prayed for the program and for the Jamaican need, a gift that has resulted in changing many lives. People often talk of the love of Christ; the folks at Dyer’s Creek are a true example of doing God’s work and a testimony of the goodness of God.
We are not only grateful but very humbled by the support of the Wallaces and Dyer’s Creek. May your many blessings to the children and families of Jamaican return to you and your church family!
Let Us Come to You!
We are very excited to announce that both Glory Outreach Jamaican missionaries Sean Wallace and Linette Powell are in Kentucky and will be in the United States until July. This is a wonderful opportunity to be able to hear not only about the true conditions in Jamaica, but how Glory Outreach is able to help those in need. Sean and Linette live in and run the program in Jamaica. They are the lifeline of the program and are the ones who distribute the shipments, choose the neediest children for sponsorship, buy school uniforms, shoes and supplies and oversee the food distribution for Project Christmas. Their history and lives are a testament to not only the hardships of Jamaican life, but to hope and the life-changing power of God.
If you would like to have Sean and Linette give a presentation to your church, youth group, school, family or civic organization, please contact Elizabeth Englert at elizabeth@gloryoutreach.net or call 270,-522-7884 or 270-498-9890.
A Letter of Thanks…
Dear Mrs. Powell,
I am writing you this letter to tell you that the program is very useful to me because I didn’t have any shoes to wear to school on Monday. I want to thank you for what you have done for all of us. If it wasn’t for you, I would have to wear my slippers to school. Many more are out there waiting for someone to buy things for them that they might need but no-one is there. I hope that one day you might find them and help out their situation. Here I say thank you again and I when I grow up I want to be an independent lady like you. You are a mother to me.
Yours truly,
Shadeen – age 13
